Where did all the soil go? This project gave our Ditch Witch mini-skid steer a workout. The homeowner wanted over 40 cubic yards of soil dug out of the wall and moved to a lower grass overflow parking area, which would provide over 1,200 square foot more space for outside his back deck door. Some areas of the excavation were very difficult because a majority of the soil was existing limestone that our team had to dig out with the machine chunk by chunk. Another challenge was sifting through a lot of rocks to ensure smooth soil for grading. A sustainable element in this project was using the existing soil to “raise up” an existing parking area that was way below grade prior to the project.
Jon and his team were great to work with. They showed up when they said they would and stayed on the project until it was complete. Some of the rock they were removing was more difficult than expected but they did not complain but rather just got on with doing the job. I will hire them again with my earth moving and landscaping needs.
